Job Summary

The maintenance technician II performs advanced mechanical and electrical equipment repair and troubleshooting work. The work will involve coordinating maintenance, installation, and modification of various types of machines. The role will have limited supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment within a fast-paced industrial setting.

Job Description

  • - Assist in the improvement of Polytech Fibers’ productivity and safety through various maintenance initiatives that include but is not limited to installing engineering modifications, changes, and updates to machinery and equipment
  • - Complete a variety of tasks related to maintenance of machinery, including plumbing, electrical jobs, heating and air conditioning, structural concerns and more depending on the scope of the project
  • - Install highly technical mechanical equipment according to the manufacturer’s recommendations in a timely manner for an optimal production timeline
  • - Complete periodic maintenance of equipment and machinery by following the recommended upkeep schedule
  • - Troubleshoot common issues with equipment and assist operators with getting back to a productive mode
  • - Resolves day-to-day technical problems on the production lines and ensures equipment and machinery compliance with production procedures and process specifications
  • - Repair machines in order to limit machinery downtime
  • - Responds to emergencies, breakdowns, malfunctions etc. to minimize disruptions to manufacturing processes
  • - Evaluate workspace safety on the production floor to ensure all staff is following guidelines with equipment
  • - Ensure strict adherence to all relevant federal and local guidelines for safety and productivity including, OSHA, ADA and other required regulations
  • - Maintains maintenance records so that recurring problems can be identified and addressed
  • - Manage and optimize Preventive and Predictive Maintenance Programs including systematically defining, developing, monitoring and refining the preventive/predictive maintenance process in pursuit of optimization
  • - Prepare diagrams, drawings, charts, calculations and reports for defining reliability problems and recommending solutions
  • - Maintain a clean and organized work area while completing tasks related to maintenance, repair or installation
  • - Performs proper inventory control of parts and tools
  • - Orders parts, materials, and equipment
  • - Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • - 4 or more years of related experience or an equivalent educational background
  • - Mechanical/Electrical experience maintaining production equipment in a continuous production environment
  • - Experience with Industrial Electrical Writing, Mechanical/Electrical Devices, Circuits, Robotics, PLC and computer controlled
  • - Strong understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and mechanics
  • - Excellent understanding of mechanical systems and parts
  • - Experience with welding preferred
  • - Capable of operating hand, power, and specialized tools
  • - Knowledge of safety procedures and potential hazards, of servicing procedures and repair techniques, and of various types of equipment and their related applications
  • - Ability to understand and follow instructions of a technical nature, to analyze equipment and resolve problems, to communicate effectively, and to serve as a lead worker providing guidance to others
  • - Comfortable with computers and report generation
  • - Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • - Ability to take initiative and strong work ethics
  • - Works well in teams and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Physical Demands/Work Environment
  • - Able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50lbs.
  • - Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • - Bend or twist their body as needed
  • - Kneel, stoop, crouch, or crawl at times
  • - Maneuver within tight spaces
  • - Climb up and down flights of stairs regularly
  • - React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet
  • - Hear sounds and recognize the difference between them
  • - Determine the distance between objects
  • - Hold the arm and hand in one position or hold the hand steady while moving the arm
  • - Must be able to handle working in a hot/cold environment with some exposure to dust and high noise level
