Job Description

• - The Sourcing Manager’s job focus is to find the best resources at the best prices to keep the
• manufacturing process on schedule.
• - He/She is expected to monitor the process from inception through completion and interact with key players to get feedback on all aspects of the raw materials.
• - Based on this information, he/she determines whether to continue to use the supplier or seek out
• higher quality or more cost-effective providers.
• - Her job entails confirming the terms of all contracts, licenses, insurance and liability agreements for each source.
• - Exemplary research and analytical skills are needed to excel in this position.
• - The Sourcing Manager has to ensure the source has adequate, quality materials available in the required time frame at the right price.
• - Negotiation skills are required to broker contracts.
• - The ability to manage multiple people and projects is necessary for this position.
• - The business environment of a Sourcing Manager is generally high energy and results- driven.
• - He/She is constantly negotiating with several possible resource providers who want the business
• and compete through counteroffers.
• - Much of his time is spent on the phone or online discussing and debating options.
• - His work hours may involve weekends and evenings to accommodate communications in a variety of time zones.
• - Some travel may be necessary.
• - Professional business attire is required for a person in this position.
• - A bachelor’s degree is required to be a raw materials sourcing manager, preferably with a concentration in logistics, engineering, operations, supply chain management or business.
• - A significant number of employers expect applicants to have at least six years experience in materials
• planning, operations, sourcing, research and development or a combination thereof.
• - A background in negotiations or contract administration is preferred.

Qualifications

• - Bachelor’s degree is required preferably with concentration in logistics, engineering,
• operations, supply chain management or business
• - Strong Interpersonal skills ? Ability to interact with global suppliers
• - Thermoplastic composites knowledge is a plus
• - Knowledge of database management is a plus
• - Knowledge of ERP/SAP systems is required
• - Strong interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills
• - 5 Years experience in materials planning, operations, sourcing, research and development
• or a combination thereof is required
• - A background in negotiations or contract administration is preferred
• - Microsoft Office application proficiency is required.
